Rev. Kevin McCloud started as a "drug baby". This means he was drug to church by his mother anytime the doors were open. He even played Jesus in a church play, but it never made a difference in his life. At the age of 13, his mother allowed him to make up his own mind about church, so he stopped attending altogether.
He was invted to church, with a friend, when he was sixteen years old and finally understood what Christ had done on the Cross for him personally. He gave his life to Christ at a revival the summer before his junior year of high school. Kevin finished high school and attended college at the University of Texas (go 'horns!).
In his fifth year of college, God called Kevin to become a youth minister. He changed majors and attended college for two additional years in preparation for seminary. Kevin graduated from the University of Texas in 1998 and went on to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001.
From seminary, Kevin moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, to accept a position as the Senior High School Minister of Wildwood Baptist Church. He spent two years in this position working with Senior High School students and assisting the Youth Pastor in overall youth ministry.
In 2003, Kevin married his wife, Jennifer, whom he had met while attending seminary.
In 2004, Kevin accepted a call to come to First Southern Baptist Church to be the Life Development Pastor over youth and children.
Kevin and Jennifer have been blessed with two wonderful children, Celia Grace, age 2, and Reagan Marie, age 6 months.
Kevin is energetic and motivating in his approach to helping our youth grow to be genuine disciples of Christ. Kevin lives life with the youth and is helping them to see their place in the church, the world and in God's Kingdom.
